A must for any writer!! This is brilliant. I reread it, and it inspires me every time.

He's not wrong.
The central tenet of the book is that creatives have to overcome resistance to make art. Resistance is treated as a psychological force, something internal, but influenced by external factors. I've found that to be true for myself in establishing the space for a writing life. The chapters after resistance as fear had me nodding along in recognition.
The book didn't come up with much advice on how to overcome resistance though. Just a lot of tough talk about pulling yourself up by ...more

Wonderful, helpful, inspiring book. It's been a while since I read it, and it's worth revisiting periodically.

I just finished reading 'The war of art: Winning the inner creative battle' by Steven Pressfield, best known for his novel, The legend of Baggar Vance, which was made into a movie.
