Wow! I was not expecting that ending...I probably should have but WOW.

This book was written in alternating POV of each Queen, but is also in some of the side characters views, like Natalia or Pietyr.

The premise of this story was very intriguing. Triplets, each one with a unique power, naturalist, fire/water/wind, and poisoner. After the 16th birthday they are set to kill each other, and the sister I was at about 4 stars all the way through this book but the ending has brought it back! 4.5/5 stars

The premise of this story was very intriguing. Triplets, each one with a unique power, naturalist, fire/water/wind, and poisoner. After the 16th birthday they are set to kill each other, and the sister still alive in the end becomes queen.

Their were a lot of characters in this story and everything was difficult to keep straight.

My favorite POV might be with Katherine. WOW. I mean I can't believe all of the training she has been going through because she is not immune to all of the poisons, but she has to be, and that is really hurting her and causing health problems (she is really short and thin and her hair is not good). I liked the Pietyr because he made Katherine happy and seemed to be trying to help her. I really enjoyed the chapter when I believe Katherine, Pietyr, and Natalia were at the table (told from Pietyr's POV) and Natalia says that she found Katherine's snake, and Katherine is so happy and leaves the room. And then we find out that Natalia just got her a new snake because the original had died. This part really opened up to show how other people view Katherine, and she is treated as a child or a doll, and not taken seriously. Its crazy! But they you see how Pietyr tried not to love her but did and awwwww...But now at the end I am just thinking about what is going to happen in the next book and is she going to actually be a naturalist? LIKE SHE HAS THE SNAKE BUT THE ACTUAL FIRST SNAKE DIED AND oooh theorizing. (HOW DID I NOT PICK UP ON THAT TILL JUST NOW???) And then at the end when because Pietyr loves her and the misunderstanding he pushes her into the pit (I want to know more about the pit, like how did she get out and what is it?) And She says, "I want revenge," (FOR Pietyr pushing her in because she doesn't know why and aguekglfhiah) ... "And then I want my crown." (pg. 390) AND I AM JUST LIKE AFGSjhdgkfd;ago because she was like this doll character in the beginning and now she is out for blood! WHAT DID THAT PIT DO TO HER??!

Maribella is unlike both of the other girls because she actually has her powers and so before we read her POV I was like, well how can she not win? And then we realize her flaw is caring too much for her sisters and refusing to kill them...And then at the end she realizes her fall and OF COURSE misunderstands the situation and thinks that Arsinoe was trying to take her life by sending the bear after her. And Maribella is like wow. thats it that is the final straw. I actually have to kill them before they kill me.

Arsinoe. I felt like she was going to win and be queen somehow, because we seemed to hear more from her POV, and she is so mentally strong, and does not fear pain, and it was even hinted that Naturalists were the best queens. BUT because of the ending. THAT TWIST. I do not know what is going to happen anymore. Can they even switch? I love this variable that was tossed in right at the end there! wow. It really makes sense that she is actually a poisoner instead of Katherine. And that Katherine is a naturalist instead of Arsinoe.

I liked how at the end each of the girls had a revelation, it shows their development as characters.

Im not even going to get started on Jules, Joseph and Mirabella...ugh

But so much more is going to happen in this story, they haven't even gotten to the killing each other yet. I don't know how it is going to work, but it will be a sight to see (but reading ya know). I am very excited to see what will follow in the second book! ...more

Wow. This was one fun read.

Three Dark Crowns is a light YA fantasy that's kind of like the Hunger Games, but between three sisters (yup, siblings going after each other's lives. This will appeal to some of you fellow readers who enjoy something twisted).
