Yaa Gyasi has created compelling characters that illustrate the many obstacles faced by generations of Africans and Americans. This will be required reading for high school students in the coming years.

I can’t remember the last time I read a book that was so good it kept me up until 2 am! I finished the book, but I didn’t want the book to be finished. I couldn’t possibly do this book justice by trying to explain. What I will say is that we have always and will always be bond to our ancestors by an irresistible force.
