This book did not work for me."Lily and the Octopus" is the story of a very self-absorbed man, his love life, his loneliness , his sick dachshund and an evil octopus. This was a weird, WEIRD book. As much as I love dogs (a bit too much), a dog talking i just too much. And no, it's not a kid's book either.
But as you go through the book, you realise the dog does not actually talk. The owner, a gay writer is an introvert only expresses his feelings to his dog. His whole life revolves around Lily, a dashchund. In her old age, she develops a sort of tumor on her head which for some reason is referred to as an octopus.
