Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2) in VAMPIRE ACADEMY READATHON

This is the book where we get introduced to the infamous Adrian that I have heard so much of from VA fans. He certainly didn't disappoint. He did leave me with one problem though! I don't know if I'm team Adrian or Team Dimitri! TOO MANY HARD CHOICES!

Frostbitewas faster-paced than the first story and I appreciate that. Lots more action and much more intense. Rose was still a brat and I found myself wanting to slap her from “Everyone has light around them, except for you. You have shadows.”

Rose was still a brat and I found myself wanting to slap her from time to time but I still really love the character deep down. I feel she grew up a tiny bit by the end of the book. Not great, huge leaps or anything. Just enough to give me a little faith that she might grow more in the books to come. I have mixed feelings on Lissa. Rose basically gives her life for that girl and Lissa seems to be fairly entitled about the whole thing. I don't really think she completely appreciates what Rose does for her. She kind of dumped her at times for Christian. I understand that teens do that sort of thing all the times and humans are selfish. I guess that could all be argued but it still irked me. Christian is still a great character and it would take a lot for me to hate this guy. I really want more of his story to come out. I love that Christian is snarky and dark. I hope we get more development with his character than just being Lissa's boyfriend and outcast at school.

I did almost shed a few tears for Mason. I know that Rose was devastated but it was hard not to be a little frustrated at her for how she treated him. He was actually a good guy, so obviously she didn't want to be a part of that nonsense *eyeroll* It was cool to see her take down two Strigio and get her first marks for killing them. I love the idea of the markings, very cool. The more and more they go into the lore in this story, the more I become hooked.

Also, finally let's talk about the relationship with Dimitri and Rose finally starting to budge. Yes, it's a bit of a turtle pace but I guess they have to build up the excitement. I better see some something more between them next book though!

The storyline with her mother pretty good. I liked that her mom didn't spend the whole time trying to make it up to her. It felt a little more authentic to the character and why she made the decisions she did with Rose. Overall, it was pretty well done.

I have never read Twilight so I can't compare them but if you like vampires, teen drama and lots of action check this one out. I think things are going to get very badass in the next book! ...more

This must be my third or fourth read of this! I will be talking more about this with Maddie from The Book Pusher and the rest of the Vampire Academy Readathon. This time, I was much more aware of certain things, and I made a lot of connections to things later in this series, as well as in the spin-off series, Bloodlines.

This time reading it, I was much more affected by the age gap between Rose and Dimitri. Also, Rose's stupid decisions became even more stupid this read. It took me a w ...more

I think I may have missed my opportunity to really lose myself in this series. I completely forgot that Dimitri was MUCH older than Rose, and trying to imagine a 24-year-old treating a 17-year-old as a peer, much less as a potential lover, is really difficult lol. If he was less mature, or even just less stoic, then I might be able to stretch it. As they are though, it's pretty tough not being pulled out of the story when they interact outside of their student and teacher roles.

4-4.5 stars! This book was soooo addicting and I'm loving this series, but I felt like nothing REALLY happened until the last 50 pages, which is the reason it's 4-4.5 stars and not 5 stars. Either way I loved it and would recommend to anyone who wants an addicting series about friendship, love, and of course vampire/guardian action!!!
