This book started off so strong. I even recommended it to some of my friends that like fantasy/magical systems type books, and I have now had to cross my fingers that they didn't pick it up before I got back to them. The romance element was a little too contrived, and I was really hoping it didn't go there, but it did. An important book, one that made me cry. I found it to be a bit long, but I’m glad I read it and looking forward to the sequel.
