Why did I wait so long to read this?!?! Fantastic world building. Mad Rogan is great as a grumpy prime. Loved Nevada and her family.

I have seen a lot of criticism for the cover and it is pretty bad. Mad Rogan is not the character who walks around without a shirt -- that would be attention-seeking Adam Pierce. So I tried fighting this book. I went in expecting romance novel plot beats and boy, does it not have those. However, this is a great book. So, this was fun and surprisingly hot for such a slow burn romance. The thing that struck me the most, though, is that it sidesteps so many of the squicky aspects of a super-wealthy, super-powerful hero and an less-so heroine. Nevada knows who she is and what she works for and there isn't any of that breathless, oh-let-me-help-you-little-one attitude that so many books with this sort of pairing fall into. Everybody was badass in their own way and I'm looking forward to seeing where all this goes ...more
