After asked if I still felt the same 5 years later, I decided to give the series another shot.
Knowing that the answer was probably ‘yes’ I completely skipped the prologues. Then, after gagging at the first sentence, I also skipped the first page of Chapter 1 and started on page 2. Nowhere near as good as the numerous glowing reviews and 4 or 5 star ratings would imply. Even putting aside that the litrpg genre isn’t exactly known for, and nor would I expect, elegant prose, this was just … sophomoric, if not downright bad. Similarly, the characterization, plotting and worldbuilding is amateurish at best. Drastically pales in comparison to others in the same field such as The Wandering Inn and even Carl The Dungeon Crawler.

Great read/listen if you've spent time playing World of Warcraft. As an audio book hearing all the level and skill increase notifications is a little monotonous but necessary to hear the granularity of slowing leveling up.
The friendly honorable nature of Richter is a little saccharine, despite the killing / fighting sequences.

I really enjoyed this adventure. Complete with magic, battles, innovative ways to beat large enemies, and works building. Good story!
