What Members Thought
Intense!! MEG has a shark that makes Jaws look like a clown fish and scenes full of action, suspense, and a great cast of characters. For fans of books like Jaws, Jurassic Park, or Fragment, I highly recommend this title.
I read this during Shark Week, because I wanted more than just the shows on TV that become quickly addictive. This is a great book.
Was it the best writing? No. Was it cutting edge? No. But it was entertaining and enjoyable.
I really did love it. There were times (especially near the end) that it got confusing because of all the active characters, but I know this book is going to be 10 times better than the movie that is coming out. You have pity for some characters. You love some characters. Yo ...more

Steve Alten had to be so disappointed with the movie. Fighting for decades to have a film made - and then ... that.
Loved the book. No idea why I hadn't read it back when it came out. Non-stop action. It does have a certain Jurassic Park feel to it, but unique in its own right. Also, without spoiling anything, there is nothing more satisfying than when those who deserve it get what is coming to them. Love that.
Think there are 5 books in the series.
So, excuse me, while I start #2 The Trench
