This is a great book to help you explain to students what the culture of the 1960s was in a child's experience. This also touches on someone dealing with a single parent household. It is presented in a way that could intrigue students. ...more

I would use this in my class to talk about different family groups and styles, in that it talks about a family dynamic in which the mother is absent and the child has to play the role of the parent.
