There are too many things one can learn from “The Alchemist”. Its all about following your dream and about taking the risk of following your dreams, which is actually so difficult to do and there are very few people in this world who actually do, I mean risk it all, just to follow your heart and your dream. This book is excellent. There are many messages contained in this novel, but basically, it's a story about a boy who seeks to find a treasure that appears to him in a dream and the journey he takes along way that provides him with many life lessons and insights. What this boy learns applies to all human beings, which I found to be inspiring and very timely as it relates to changes that I am undergoing in my professional life. This book confirmed my decision to make those changes.

I have read this book twice. Once for a book club and once purely for myself. The second time was a let-down. I found some of the themes interesting: not giving up, following your dream, trust in the ones that you love. Possibly because I don't believe in a god, fate, or destiny, so many of the main ideas of the book just slid right by me this second time around.
