Lifelike is about Evie, a cyborg girl living in the Dregs who just wants to buy her grandpa his cancer meds. Unfortunately she goes about this by betting their life savings on her gladiator robot at the WarDome. Not only does she lose, but she discovers that she can destroy any machinery with just a thought by manifesting on live tv. Dragging her feet home, she stumbles upon a rare type of android named Ezekiel in the remains of a crash. With her best friend lemon fresh, her robot side kick circuit, and her trusty blitzhound Kaiser, Eve and Ezekiel set off on a trek to save the ones that Eve loves most.

Things I loved about this book
I loved the sci aspects of the book. I’m someone who just recently fell in love with science fiction after reading the Illuminae Files also by Jay Kristoff and the lovely Amie Kaufman. I loved all the themes explored like post apocalyptic worlds, humans with a god complex creating artificial intelligence, and what happens when those andriods just want the rights afforded to every human. Kristoff also does a good job of making the sciency bits understandable for those of us with less than super intelligence. The world is described but in a way we can all pick up what he’s laying down.
I also loved the Humor. The banter between the characters will light up your life and make you laugh out loud. Eve and Lemon Fresh are so sarcastic. You will find yourself giggling at Kristoff’s sense of humor and how he uses it to reflect and build up on the friendships within the novel. Which brings me to the next thing I loved.
The friendships are spectacular in this book. Especially Evie and her bestest Lemon Fresh. They are stronger together and together forever. It was so nice to see female female friendships in a positive light. Adding Cricuit to the mix, These are friends who always have each other’s back. They listen to each other and just have a genuine affection the group. After reading this I just wanted to reach out and hug my own best friend.
This book has been marketed as Romeo and Juliet Meets Mad Max Meets X-Men with a little bit of Blade Runner shouting from the sidelines. I can totally see all these different aspects within the novel. I hope you’ll pick this up and give it the chance it deserves.

It’s been 2 months but IVE FINALLY FINISHED A BOOK! Now this book was great amazing even but I stopped reading it for two months so that is why this a 3 star instead of a 5. I do highly recommend this book tho! Jay Kristoff is a genius storyteller

Very sad about this. Giving this 2 stars really pains me, but 3 stars would mean that I at least somewhat enjoyed it, but I didn't really. Didn't care about a single character or what happened to them. Liked the twist at the end, but that’s about it. Will maybe pick up the next one to see if I like it any better, but not sure yet. ...more
