I wasn't sure what to expect from Fallen. The cover drew me in, but I'd been reading mixed reviews. After reading, I have to side with those who are fans of the novel: I read it in one sitting and can't wait to read the next installment, Torment.

Fallen definitely wasn't an action-packed novel, but I appreciated the slow unfolding of the plot and found it interesting and intricate. The pages really started flying by when I hit the middle of the novel.

This was a little slower than I anticipated. I was instantly drawn to the cover art, and I knew not to judge a book by its cover, but it was so enticing, I just had to have it. Luckily, I got this from my library so I didn't spend any money on it, but I feel my time was a big price to pay. In parts, I did get drawn into the story, but other times it dragged. The characterization never progressed, and the concept didn't get explored as much as I would have liked, just so I could get a clearer sen This was a little slower than I anticipated. I liked Kate's writing, but it's easy to forget it in a heart beat. It's not one of those 'Wow, I want to write just like her' that I usually look for in reading a good book. I think with a little more discipline, Lauren Kate could be a great writer.

I didn't like the heroine, which made reading this feel more like a chore. I did like the concept, and it's what kept me reading. But the story falls flat too fast, and it's so sad because this story had so much potential. I'm in love with the idea of reincarnation, but I have yet to meet (or shall I say read) an author whom is able to portray the concept with complete awe inspiring skill.

There's no real conflict that makes sense, I feel that there's too much telling, which makes the story feel forced, and weak. I felt there was no perfect bond between the heroine, and hero, or why they were drawn together in so many lives. There was no build up, and nothing got delivered.

I will say, I liked Arriane. I found her very amusing, and bipolar that I related to her more, but I didn't care for any of the other characters. I wanted to, but I just didn't. The few deaths that happened in here didn't even spark that emotional flame in me, which was a little disappointing. It's because the heroine was so caught up in lover boy that her friends may as well have been cardboard cut outs posted on her cell wall.

All in all, it was an okay read for me. I did finish it, and it may be because I was in a really good mood because I read it on Christmas day (and the sun was out) so yeah. I will give this author the benefit of the doubt, because I know this is just a start of a series.

I hope to see improvement in the next book, because believe it or not, I want to know more about Cam (you know the secondary love interest that overshadows the first?) yeah him. And I love Fallen Angel stories, so yes I will continue reading this series. :):)

I didn't know if I was going to like this book when it started out and I didn't realize there would be more than one. It was a very cute story and very original. I haven't read any story about Angels before and enjoyed it. I don't know when the next book is going to come out but there is alot of the story left open. I can't wait till they explain more about their past lives together. Waiting for the next book... ...more
