"The Helm of Midnight" really had a lot of the elements I look for in a fantasy - a compelling mystery mixed with dynamic characters against a unique fantasy backdrop. In particular, I liked the main character Krona as she tried to unravel the mystery, even as new factors unravel the plot before the reader's eyes. All and all, I think Marina J. Losetter did quite a lot right. One of the coolest things the author does is use chapter blurbs to tell a compelling story about the character's backstor ...more
