The original existentialist novel - about a scholar who starts to get a sick feeling in his stomach when he realizes inanimate objects have no regard for him. Strange..yes but makes a lot more sense if you are familiar with Sartre's philosophy. Definitely a great read if you are willing to put the time in to understand it.

The plot isn't really what matters in this book. The book is a fictional journal in which the diary's drafter comes to some amazing and meaningful realizations about existence and being, all of which are delivered in commentary.
