This is the second time I read the book and I enjoyed it again. I feel so sorry for Tita but hope she got what she wanted in life in the end. I am glad the food tradition will be carried on with Esperanza's daughter. ...more

Food & romance together in a novel--what more could you ask for? I read this for a book club eons ago and we made dinner based on the recipes in the book. What I had failed to notice was that there's a disclaimer at the beginning that the recipes are not real and shouldn't be used. So there were a few mystery steps to make them work but it did work with improvisation. It was good food and a good excuse to read a fun book. ...more
