I want you to know that I would never, ever rate this series 5/5 stars - I would rate it 6/5. ;) This book is really fast-paced, and has you hooked from the beginning. There are also REALLY good characters, descriptions, plot line and... just about everything! If you haven't read this book, I highly recommend it, because I think you will enjoy it! :D ...more

'Keeper of the Lost Cities' is an exciting, suspense-filled, adventurous story with the occasional comic relief, a fitting read for any age range. Shannon Messenger tells a story that captivates the reader's attention from chapter one.
This page-turner consists of everything that makes a book so enjoyable: adventure, mystery, humor, a hint of romance! From love for Sophie and her friends to shock as she progressively discovers the frig AMAZING read! This book drew me in from the very beginning. 'Keeper of the Lost Cities' is an exciting, suspense-filled, adventurous story with the occasional comic relief, a fitting read for any age range. This page-turner consists of everything that makes a book so enjoyable: adventure, mystery, humor, a hint of romance! From love for Sophie and her friends to shock as she progressively discovers the frightening truth about herself to fear as she begins to realizes how many enemies she may have, Shannon gives you ALL the feelings. Not only this, she has the skill to create an entire WORLD, transporting you into the perfect realm of the elves(a whole new species!). She spins a tale so detailed and intricate, embellished with so many facts and elements, the reader can't help but feel as if they were there with Sophie, breathing in the crisp air of Eternalia, strolling the lush grounds of Havenfield, laughing at the lunch table with her and her friends at Foxfire, or waking up with her after being kidnapped. They can't help but feel the shock Sophie feels when she discovers she is an elf, the excitement of exploring a new world, the awe she feels after each major revelation, the steadily growing love for Grady and Edaline, or the fear of the unknown organization sending her notes, goading her to do certain things that may have very serious consequences.
Another reason this was so entertaining, was the characters and their development. There were so many different features; not one was alike! Dex, all goofy, yet sweet and kind. Charming, handsome Fitz. Wise Alden, always ready to comfort. Anxious Grady and Edaline, crushed after their only daughter's death; slowly, they allow themselves to love again, and gradually are restored to their former, joyful and loving selves. Each of these people grow into almost entirely different characters.
This book kept me enraptured all the way to the last page and left me eager and excited to continue this wonderful series!

When I stepped into Barnes and Noble that day, I had no idea that this book existed. Oh, if I only knew then. I had come to buy another book, but I had plenty of money left on my gift card. That's when I saw this book on the shelf.
I was immediately interested in it.
First of all, it looked pretty long. Yes! Finally! I love long books.
Second, the title stood out to me. "Keeper of the Lost Cities." Intriguing.
Third, I saw that it was a series. Perfect. That means more reading.

the continuation of my quarantine nostalgia rereads :) this series is so enjoyable and heartfelt. the world is so interesting and expansive, and the characters are great. the plot is just excellent and always exciting and unpredictable. this is probably one of the best first books in a series i’ve ever read. the mystery is so so compelling and the plot rolls out just perfectly and sets up so well for a continuation. this series was such a great part of my childhood. ten year old magdalena had go ...more

This is the best middle grade fantasy series! I have read this book over and over and over, and each time I want to read it again. I absolutely guarantee that you will be laughing at Sophie's reactions and mistakes. The amount of detail in the book is amazing, and with twists and turns you never expect what happens. This is one of my favorite book series! I have all of them and am so ready for the new one to come out in November!!! It is a kid friendly book that is wholesome! Safe for kids to read. I would recommend this to kids 10 and above.
