Blood of the Fold (Sword of Truth, #3) in Sword Of Truth

The third installment of the Sword of Truth series is phenomenal. All three books are perfect. Though there are rare flaws in each of them, it is impossible to name them after they are gone because of how fun the rest of the book is.

Philosophy - As this story progresses, Goodkind's philosophy becomes more apparent. So far it has only been background noise so that unless you are familiar with Objectivism, you wouldn't notice it. It is also foreseeable that his main characters, Richard and Kahlan, The third installment of the Sword of Truth series is phenomenal. All three books are perfect. Though there are rare flaws in each of them, it is impossible to name them after they are gone because of how fun the rest of the book is.

Philosophy - As this story progresses, Goodkind's philosophy becomes more apparent. So far it has only been background noise so that unless you are familiar with Objectivism, you wouldn't notice it. It is also foreseeable that his main characters, Richard and Kahlan, still have some things to learn about this philosophy, and that will be a great experience seeing these two progress towards those views. Wizard's Third Rule advances his philosophy more than any of the others, and it is a really complex one to follow. One of the humps Goodkind has to get around is the magic of the book, which seems to hide some of his views because of the rules of this world being different from our world. This is very apparent in Blood of the Fold.

Characters - I'm in love. The Mord-Sith. Richard, Kahlan, and Zedd. Emperor Jagang, Brogan, Verna, Warren, Ann, and Nathan. I could follow these characters throughout countless books. So far this book has the best new and side characters. I think Gratch may be my all time favorite character in any book ever.

Ending - The first two books seemed rushed when it came to the ending. This one was perfect. The very ending scene in the inn was so vivid, so vigorous, so lucid, so resplendent, that surely oh surely I was right there in the inn, sitting at the table, asking about the clouds.

Dialog - I've noticed that this series seems to hinge on dialog. There are not too many descriptions to slow down the pace, but enough to paint a picturesque place. The dialog drives the story along until some action finally needs to happen. This is quite unique in that Goodkind is the only author able to do this successfully. Each character has a unique enough voice that Goodkind doesn't need the he said she said technique that is amateurish. ...more
