Wow. It was an amazing book. Loved the story. It's futuristic so it shows us how we have already destroyed our world and how a new race of people operate, learning from our mistakes. The uglies, the main charasters, are teenagers with different "deformities" - large noses, thin lips etc. When they reach the age of 18 they get in an operation to turn them into pretties - having features out of a catalogue so that everyone eccentially looks the same and everyone is perfect.
