Buddy re-read with Gavin .

After I was more than a month in the epic fantasy Sanderson's land, I'm beyond happy to be back in Prague, Marrakesh and some other exotic places! This is my second re-read of this book, I'm three chapters in and already as fascinated (or even more) as the first two times. I promise to write a proper review this time (or at least to try)!

(view spoiler)[Започнах прочита на Създадена от дим и кост с петте глави, дадени на сайта на авторката или където там ги открих и всякакво съмнение дали да я купя бързо изчезна. Открих една красиво написана и пълна с обещаващи идеи книга. Как ми се ще да докопам скицника на Кару! След това успявах да намеря момент за почивка между контролните, проектите и изпитите, за да прочета по една-две глави и нямах търпение сесията да свърши, за да не трябва да се ограничавам.

И ето че, след сякаш цяла вечност очакване, голямото учене приключи. За съжаление малко след навлизането в пъстрия, вълшебен свят, който така ме заплени, се появи Акива и всичко, което си представях, че ме очаква, малко по малко се превърна в съвсем бледа фантазия, която се разиграваше в далечно кътче на съзнанието ми, докато разочарованието ме водеше за ръка покрай нелогичното поведение на иначе разумната главна героиня, после през повече събития от миналото, отколкото видях в настоящето и ме побутваше към удобни твърди повърхности, в които да си ударя главата, когато се спомене думата с `л`. Сериозно, Тейлър, сериозно? Една среща насред бойното поле и те са влюбени? И в настоящето той се опита да я убие, след което тя едва не уби него и това доведе до второто им влюбване? Сериозно? Но на кого му трябват личностни качества, опознаване, общи преживявания, когато има неземна красота...

Ако съдя по края на тази книга, в следващата двамата "влюбени" ще са разделени, така че очаквам повече развитие. Може би ще има повече от две събития, водещи до напредък в сюжетната линия. Ще прочета Days of Blood Starlight заради многото по-малки и по-големи интересни хрумвания на въображението на Тейлър, любопитна съм какво ли още е измислила, но този път очакванията ми определено ще са много по-ниски. Едно е сигурно - няма да я купя на български. Съжалявам, Егмонт, но забелязвам грешките на превода и ми развалят удоволствието.

Междувременно изпитвам желание да препрочета Kate Daniels, за да си припомня какво е усещането да се чувствам свързана с реалистични герои и да ме изпълва щастието на тяхната реалистична любов.
Или Angelfall, за да си припомня колко добра може да е книга с тинейджърка и ангел за главни герои.

I want natural blue hair and I want to be given a new foreign language as a gift on every birthday! I'm joking, I don't really need the blue hair.

First of all, thanks Rhea for the recommendation and thanks for bugging me to read it till I finally did.

I cannot explain why exactly, but the very first sentence of the book made me determined to read it. 'Once upon a time an angel and a devil fell in love. It did not end well.' (the feather touch was nice as well) - simple, yet absolutely intriguing. I want natural blue hair and I want to be given a new foreign language as a gift on every birthday! I cannot explain why exactly, but the very first sentence of the book made me determined to read it. 'Once upon a time an angel and a devil fell in love. It did not end well.' (the feather touch was nice as well) - simple, yet absolutely intriguing.

Honestly, up until the very end of the book I was hoping I could give it 5 stars but couldn't bring myself to do it. Laini Taylor is an extremely talented story-teller. I loved her version of the angel-devil conflict. While the angels to a certain extent were portrayed in the traditional way, save for several details about they way they lived, I really liked her version of the demons as chimaeras - composed of different parts from different creatures. Plus, she tried to convey the idea that neither the angel race was intrinsically good, nor the chimaeras were evil. It's all a point of view. There weren't that many surprising revelations, that could not be guessed in advance or at least gotten a general idea about, before them being fully explained but as I said I enjoyed immensely the overall story, which was infused with so many original ideas and triggered the imagination of the readers, immersing them in an exciting fantasy world.

And now the bad part a.k.a. why I subtracted a whole star from the rating. The love story! Ewwww, it was terrible! I know I'm being harsh, maybe it's me, my tolerance towards stupid romantic stories is gradually nearing zero. Actually, it wasn't as bad as some others that make me puke in my mouth a little when I read them, but still ruined it all to a certain extent. Madrigal and Akiva's story was a bit more tolerable than Akiva and Karou's. And I know this might make some readers want to stone me to death - but in my opinion Akiva was the most annoying character in the entire book. What a wuss! Why couldn't it be about a bad-ass girl, raised by a foster family of out-of-this-world creatures, who's running errands, collecting teeth for a chimaera magician and maybe, just maybe have a romantic subplot. OK, I realize I'm asking for too much, but while reading it I just wanted to delete some parts and construct my perfect version of the story, alas I'm not Laini Taylor and that's her novel. For now I'll just pretend that she did this in order to appeal to a larger audience since the rest of the book was pure awesomeness! ...more

I Love it <3 ...the story is interesting and show us a new world, and a new side of the angels. There are people that don't like it for the fact that part of the story is similar to the one in Fallen (by L.K.) but i don't think this is a reason to talk bad about the book itself. Anyway, now this book is part of my TOP 10! ...more
