Okay. This was the saddest ending of a book I have ever read in my life!
Definitely will write a looong review on that book when I find some free time!

This was the first book of John Green that I have read and I must say that it left me confused! I don't know how to feel about it and this is the reason for which I give the book 4 stars and not 5.

Don't get me wrong! I really liked the book, however I can't say that I loved it. First of all, I will start by pointing out its positive qualities.

The book reveals how the real world looks like. In real life we cannot experience only positive and happy moments. Real life is about experiencing awful, heart-breaking things that leave you broken into pieces. You have to face all kind of bullshits in order to say that you have lived your life in full swing! This the only way that you can actually learn and enrich your knowledge. And this book shows that. It shows the terrible side of life - fighting awful illness. Hazel and Augustus are fighters - they struggle to win over cancer and their destiny is one of those who touch your heart. C'mon who doesn't cry over dying from cancer child? I literally cried my eyes out through the last 100 or so pages!

Moreover, I must say that John Green writes AMAZINGLY! The book is sooo well written in such a complicatedly unique style that I found out that I cannot put it down. I fell in love with the vocabulary of Mr. Green. It is not writen in this poetic way that I usually enjoy and I am sure that this is one of the reasons that the book is so real. It doesn't promise you happy ending. It shows you how things are in real life.

However, there are some things that I didn't enjoy so much. First of all, the cancer subjest is so commonly used - a lot of movies have been made, a lot of books have been written and I am sure that all of us have been listening to cancer stories for so long time. Don't get me wrong - I understand that this is part of life, but I don't think that is quite unique and original subject to write ANOTHER book on. Also, some of the dialogues between Gus and Hazel were really boring! At some point I got tired of this ironic way of seeing your illness.

Oh, I almost forgot. AUGUSTUS! He was the most adorable character of the book. I was crying like an idiot when he died and this was not fair, Mr. Green! So, so unfair!

I will definitelly not recommend this book to a person who (like me) gets into books and feels them emotionally. Because this book does this. I am certain that it will stay with me for a long time.

P.S Now I want to read and another book of Green since I am in love with his writing style. Any recommendations? ...more

Можеше и да дам малко повече, защото книгата докосва, но сякаш не ми е чак за 4. Има силни моменти, които те остават без дъх, а като го вземеш - вече плачеш. Мъката е голяма и няма как да е, като се има предвид възрастта на героите. Дори и на тази фон любовта пак успява да пусне своите филизи и то по много красив начин.
