Like many of Paulo Coelhos' books this is allegorical; the physical journey described in the story is the parrallel of the spiritual journey of the author and in this case the other main characters. This story is deceptively simple yet draws the reader into some deep and intense self examination of their journey through this existence, the choices we make and the effects they have on ourselves and others on a spiritual level. very reminiscent of The Alchemist, while remaining a completely separa

it made me question my faith.. not in a way that made me want to convert, but more to my understanding, and the need to know more.. it made me question humanity, and their sense of perverse righteousness..
It's such a shame i had to postpone finishing the book for 2 weeks, because i lost the magic that i felt when i first began reading the book. the second half of the book fell flat for me, and right now all i can think about is how annoying and demanding hilal is.. ^^'
