Wow. I adore the TV show True Blood but somehow, never got around to reading this.
What was I waiting for?!
Devoured it in three days. Housework? Kids? what are those and who cares?! I just could not put this one down. It is different enough from the TV show that I didn't feel as though anything was spoiled. Sookie, as a character, is much funnier in print than on the small screen. Good mix of vampires and mystery, not too dark but with plenty of action to hold the interest. Sookie Stackhouse, waitress and telepath, is a great character who seems like she could be a real person, she lives in a convincing and welcoming world. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Alright, so I guess the reason this gets only 3 (generous) stars is probably because it was so hyped up in my head (I work in a bookstore, you know, so people are always talking about it). It didn't live up to my expectations. I thought it would be cleverer, funnier, with better writing. What was the worst though, was that I HATED Bill! I couldn't stand him at all.
