My thoughts:
*I thought the narrator was pretty good. I think she tried to vary her speech to signify that different people were talking. Her Russian accent was pretty good. Sometimes her female voices (for Rikki's 'sisters', particularly Blythe) sounded a little hokey. But overall I was happy, because she brought the characters to life. Wow! This was not at all what I was expecting. It wasn't what I imagined it to be like. I was thinking it would go down the same line as the Drake Sister's series but it didn't. It wasn't good but it wasn't bad either, it was different.

I so wanted to like this book. And I actually did like the main female character--she's somewhere on the autism spectrum, and that made her fascinating. She also felt very real--Feehan did a great job of making Rikki sympathetic and likable, while still prickly and idiosyncratic. But the plot and writing was so incredibly repetitive--the worst telling, not showing, that I've encountered in ages. A solid 3.5 rating, but I just can't give it more. The Drake books always caught me up much more than Feehan's Carpathians because they contained more action and less emotional drama. The first half of Water Bound was all angsty stuff, as the author was showing us the emotional interaction between Lev Paraniskii and Rikki Sitham.
