Our love affair is over, because you have stolen my heart away from him. He has Kiara, and I'm sure he will get over me, now that I have found you. I know that Shahara is your dearest love, but she cannot possibly love you like I do. There is no way!

Okay, the madness is over, I think. Now I can talk about how much I loved this book, and how Syn has changed my life.

I cannot believe that the stupid publishers did not want to publish this book. Were they insane? Clearly. This was a fantastic story. I thought I loved Born of Night, and I still do, but ah, Syn's story, I love even more.

Syn is one of the most awesome heroes ever written. Okay, you might dispute that, but this is my review, so if you are reading it, I attest this to be my truth. He is so tortured. I cannot believe what this poor man suffered. I wanted to slap every person who ever hurt him. I definitely wanted to go buy a pair of boots (since I don't own any except for work galoshes) and kick his ex-wife's butt so far out of the known galaxies that it would require a search party to find it. How can you hold a man's parentage against him? A man is judged for who he is individually, and Syn never let me down. I could see why he had the shell around his heart, so many times was it broken. And what he suffered, as a boy. Imagine putting a young boy through that. Hard to even conceive of. It's incredible what he accomplished, and that alone showed that he was far beyond what his father and mother were. I just wanted Syn to be happy. I wanted to love him to pieces as I read this story. I still do. There is so much I love about Syn!

Okay, Shahara. I did have a couple of moments that I wanted to slap the taste out of your mouth. But only a couple. You turned out to be a good heroine, although you had me frothing at the mouth initially. But, I could see your issues after what you suffered. You are definitely Ms. Kenyon's most tortured heroine. And, I must admit, you proved yourself to be a worthy match for Syn. The way you made his heart feel to know that someone really loved him....I'll tolerate you just for that. But, it was also pretty cool how you went to bat for Syn, more than once, in this story. And, you are a badass. I do love badass heroines. (pardon my French). You know how to take care of yourself and your man. And, you're a pretty good sister, too. I wish you well with my man Syn, since he's not real, and I can't be with him in real life. You better take very good care of him, because I'm watching you, very closely!

I predict I will have a new addiction, books set in space and on other worlds. If you know of some good ones, please recommend them. Only, they must have fantastic heroes to die for, buttkicking action, lots of angst, and wisecracking galore to make up for the moments that break your heart. I don't know if too many books will meet the high standard that this story has set for me. It's too scary to contemplate. Did I tell you how much I love Syn? The second book in Sherrilyn Kenyon's The League series. Shahara is a bounty hunter/tracer and when a bounty comes up for C.I. Syn she takes it. Shahara hopes that the bounty will pay her sister's hospital bills. Only Syn isn't the easy target she hoped. In fact, nothing about Syn is like she imagined. Syn is the son of one of the most notorious and evil criminals that ever lived. But he had managed to escape that life for a while until his past caught up to him.

I enjoyed reading the first League book, Born of Night. I had trouble reading this one. Not because I disliked the hero, I love Sin. He is such a golden retriever being forced to perform like a killer pit bull - but the warm, caring, save-the-world pup is still inside... The heroine on the other hand did all the wrong things for what she thought [and didn't bother to find out differently:] were all the right reasons. Essentially I felt Sin deserved better, MUCH better.

I'll keep reading the serie ...more

Born of Fire was much more enjoyable than I had anticipated and now I'm annoyed at myself for putting off reading it for so long. Why did I put it off, well Shahara Dagan is a bounty hunter, she's a kick-ass heroine and I was put off by that. After reading plenty of other reviews on Born of Fire I was sure that I wasn't going to like it, as Syn is the ultimate tortured hero and I couldn't see how a kick-ass heroine was going to be a great match for him. But I should have know better. Ms Kenyon has never let me down with any of her books and I should have know I would love it. Ms Kenyon was the first author I read for paranormal romance two years ago and I will still happily read one of her books today!
As a child Syn was raised as a tech-thief until his livelihood uncovered a truth that could end his life. Now trained as an assassin, he allows no one to threaten him. He is the darkness that swallows his enemies whole. Shahara Dagan is the best bounty hunter in the universe. She needs the money from capturing Syn to help save her sister. There’s only one problem, Syn is a close family friend of her brother, he's helped out the Dagans countless times. But if she saves him, both of their lives will be on the line. Shahara knows Syn is innocent of the crimes he's been accused of but she believes in the justice system and the only hope Shahara has of saving Syn is to find the evidence he buried long ago.

This is a brilliant series! I truly loved the first book Born of Night and was swept away with the pace of Born of Fire. It never slowed once and I found it hard to drag myself away, even for a cup of tea! Syn is an amazing tortured hero, you get all of his background through the story and it is such a heart breaking story you can't help but sympathise for him. In a way you can respect what Shahara does, she does what she thinks is right not out of fear but in the end out of love for Syn. She's a brilliant blood thirsty kick-ass heroine that you can't help but admire after everything she's been through.I really enjoyed the opening of the book with Syn in all his kick-ass glory putting down the assassin's sent to kill him.

I really can't explain how much I enjoyed this book and was shocked when I read the preface that publishers weren't willing to buy this book from Ms Kenyon when she first tried selling it. There loss and now it's are gain!

This is a brilliant series I can't wait to read the next book Born of Ice and I can hope that the series may continue. If not it's just a great small series.

I would happily recommend any Sherrilyn Kenyon book to new readers and would say if you pick up a book from any of her series always go for the first one. ...more

Well, in the beginning I had a great dislike for Shahara but she did redeem herself and well, I was wrong about her as the book continued. She did annoy me, though.

Decent story with a sweet epilogue. I thought the writing was a bit choppy in parts but still an overall entertaining story. I'm not sure why I waited so long to read it after finish Born in Night.

If you are big into "I'm not worthy" on both sides of the romance, this book is for you. Its just filled to the brim with insecurity and self flagellation.
Some good plot is also to be found there which is why I ended up reading more.
But all in all its a bit low on the self esteem for me. ...more
