Since I recently re-watched the first three films in the saga, I thought apt to read this one which precedes Episode III in hopes of seeing more of Grievous and Dooku, and how they 'captured' Palpatine at the very beginning of the film. I was not dissapointed. It gives us answers to that question, but also lets us see the very end of the Clone Wars: The Republic is winning major battles and the Separatists are being relegated far to the Outer Rim. Star Wars Future Re-read: Yes. (Enough value in the 2nd half to be worth it). Valuable glimpse of Grievous origins. Fills in a lot of holes in Episode III.
I really labored between 3 and 4 stars on this, and ended up rounding down. The main reason is that the first half of the book is pretty boring and seems disconnected from the second half, which was very good. The first half, (view spoiler) ...more

I really enjoyed this story. It's a good lead in to Revenge of the Sith. The only thing that keeps it from being a 5 star read is that at points, Luceno went into way too much detail about things.
