I'll admit, I'm new to reading the Star Wars EU. I've read different books all across the spectrum of timelines from Old Republic to New Jedi Order, and this is the series that most people have wanted me to pick up (after Heir to the Empire). Overall it was pretty enjoyable.

The plot was interesting and well paced in my opinion, and I was never lost or bored by any of the more politically based story lines. I like the idea of the characters we love being at odds with each other, even if it ultim

This book is the first book in a nine book series. The series is written by three different authors, each taking turns writing. This makes for some interesting continuity, but I'll talk more about that in my review of the second book.

Good start to a new series of Star Wars books. I really liked how stuff happened on a continuous basis. That made it a really fast read for me.

Very interesting. It almost seems like Jacen thinks he can become a Sith academically, without it affecting him at all, without falling to the Dark Side. I wonder if that will be the difference between Jacen's fall and Anakin Skywalker's. Anakin's fall was all about his emotions and Jacen's seems to be starting from a lack of emotion.

6/2/24--listened on audible. Really seeing how Jacen lacks empathy and has a superiority complex. Really bad combination.
