I really did enjoy it, but there were times when I was reading it when bits and pieces were truly lost on me. Perhaps it’s because both my family and I aren’t religious what-so-ever that the parts where God and the Divne family played a featuring role that annoyed me.
But all in all it was a good book. The plot was well thought out and while it was similar to the werewolf stories of the old days where being a werewolf is seen as a curse, instead So I have mixed emotions in regards to this book. I really did enjoy it, but there were times when I was reading it when bits and pieces were truly lost on me. Perhaps it’s because both my family and I aren’t religious what-so-ever that the parts where God and the Divne family played a featuring role that annoyed me.
But all in all it was a good book. The plot was well thought out and while it was similar to the werewolf stories of the old days where being a werewolf is seen as a curse, instead of a blessing like you see so often nowadays in stories, it had an interesting twist. I liked that the werewolves were originally warriors for God, who over the centuries lost their hold on their humanity and became something else, something evil.
What I really enjoyed about this book was the mystery in it. You never actually knew 100% what was going on. From the very beginning you knew that there was something about Daniel that had happened in the past and yet you didn’t know what. I liked how things were slowly shown, instead of all at once. Little bits here and there were revealed and because of this I was left desperate to know just what the secret was. It kept me reading.
Grace was a little bland for my taste as a heroine, but I liked how she was willing to go against others wishes when she thought it was the right thing to do. I was glad to see that she wanted to help Daniel, even though I wanted to kick her when she turned her back on him for a little while after she learned what he truly was and what he had done. Thankfully she decided that he was worth saving in the end.

I felt for Don in this story. He was a simple man, who had a good heart and wanted to do the right thing, and it saddened me to see that he died alone the way he did.
I will say I wasn’t expecting Pete to turn out to be such a creep in the end, guess it just goes to show that not everyone is what they seems, nor was I expecting Jude to be the ‘monster’. Finding out that he’d become a werewolf after the incident with Daniel all those years before and that he was responsible for all the body mutilations and deaths of the animals, shocked me.

I was happy with the end of this book, now that Daniel has been saved and I’m intrigued to see what happens to Grace now that she herself is infected. I’ll definitely be reading the second book when it comes out.

This book was not bad! I kind of expected a little bit more because it had 3.91 stars and lots of readers (statistik of the book on Goodreads)
I had the feeling that every supposedly "interesting" scene could have been much more but was somehow toned down... not detailed and gone into enough (I don't know how to explain it another way... that's just what I feel) It seemed just a half hearted attempt on writing this book... Because of all the rave reviews this book was getting, I thought I would enjoy it much better than I actually did. It took too long getting to the action parts and even they were lame. The plot wasn't all that interesting or that original and the writing stank. I felt like I was reading the script to a D grade horror movie. And the characters weren't interesting at all. I felt like Bree Despain was trying to write Twilight only with a werewolf as the main love interest instead of a vampire. Thum ...more
