What a surprise! You know most of these books are fairly predictable, which I don't mind, but this one wasn't. Don't get me wrong it's not like a thriller with major twists at every page, but I honestly didn't have everything figured out from the beginning. A totally refreshing change.

Despite the narrator's "too modern" tone, this is one of the better retellings I've read, actually bringing something truly new to the story. It was kind of like Sleeping Beauty meets Alice and Wonderland, and I liked the chaotic edge, as well as the characters, who all seemed like real (and interesting) people. As I've said in a previous review, Sleeping Beauty is not one of my favorite faerie tales. But this story, made me weep. Weep is a strong word, and I meant it. It made me cry for loss, heartache, and finally joy. Joy because it ended the only way it could've. Happily Ever After.
