Loosely based on Cupid and Psyche. By far my least favorite Gail Carson Levine.
As a side note, the portrayal of Admat, the "one god," annoyed me a bit because it was fairly clearly a version of the Christian God with all of the stereotypical complaints generally aired about Him. It just seemed unfortunate and unnecessary. And, did I mention, annoying?

Ever is a unique tale of faith, love and family reminiscent of Greek mythology stories. While I did find this tale to be unique, it was not quite as absorbing as other novels I have read by Ms. Levine. I would recommend The Two Princesses of Bamarre or Fairest prior to recommending this one.
I'm not sure what I was expecting this to be. But it didn't meet my expectations. It seems all of Levine's books following Ella Enchanted disappoint me.
