The hobbit may have one of my favorite courageous male characters of all time. Bilbo is brave, despite being small. While he is nervous about starting an adventure, but once in enjoys himself and finds that he is stronger and braver than he expected. Bilbo uses cleverness mostly to solve problems, but is not afraid of fighting. I love him.
