All in all this was a very enjoyable book. I loved how the author kept the same wording in all of Elsie's letters. Aunt Mamie's letters were especially interesting... I loved how Aunt Mamie abbreviated the words like "you", "see", and "too" in her letters. The pictures the author included were really fascinating and definitely added to the story. I really loved this book I love stories that are based in the past. I love all the letters and notes, however they did not always flow, sometimes it broke up the story made it choppy. I truly loved seeing early Arizona through Elsie's eyes and temperament. The only thing I would suggest changing is keeping the story and diary but moving all of the short abbreviated lists to the end they just didn't work well where they are.
