Re-read 2022 (read this 10yrs ago, and loved it, I might hate it now)

I stopped re-reading because of my newly developed pet peeve;
slow burn + spineless insecure h.
I still love this authors writing enough to try reading this again, so I am keeping my rating.

heroins nickname is mouse, for she is a timid little wren and a coward (that’s what it says in the book). I am sure she becomes stronger later on. I do recall her making the H work to get her back after he cheats, so she d ...more

Uggh, I had such high hopes for this story but in the end, I just couldn't wait until it was over. =/
Nora (h) was a product of her mother's infidelity and when she dies all Nora had was the man who raised her as a daughter, a man who basically hated her and felt as if she was a burden. All she wants is to be loved but knowing that she's very plain and that she will never catch a husband, she instead turns her self to court intrigue.

Have to admit...really good romance! Especially loved the fact that the H started softening towards the h BEFORE obtaining evidence revealing her innocence. This proves that his feelings for her weren't led by evidence. I've always hated romances where the only reason the H shows affection towards the h again after a supposed "betrayal" was because some evidence cleared her or he was told the truth by someone else, etc. Also loved his jealousy and vulnerability/insecurity when it came t ...more
