If I were to choose one author and one romance bodice-ripper paperback to carry the torch of the most eponymous of the genre, it would have to be Donna Comeaux Zide's, SAVAGE IN SILK, published in 1978.

Putting Mariah & Jared back on the TBR. Nothing wrong with them, per se, but I’m in a gothic/fantasy/hqn mood, not a ripper mood…so I’ll return (restart?) this another time.

It probably wasn’t good to read this book immediately after my previous read. I couldn't stop comparing similarities within the plots or the differences in each author's writing talent. That said, my rating/review may have been a bit different otherwise...but I don't know about that...

Mariah grew up believing she was the daughter of a wealthy couple in St. Louis. When she refuses to marry the young man chosen for her, they send her to live with her "sister" at a ranch in Montana.
