4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars. I really enjoyed this one but it took me longer to read compared to the others. The first 1/2-3/4 of the book was a little challenging to get through with my reading slump. Tatiana Masly does a phenomenal job narrating this book, especially the part when Katniss was sobbing near the end was so emotional. I love the twist close to the end, and the ending is somewhat haunting with just enough for you to have some closure and feel satisfaction afterwards. Definitely ...more

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Hunger Games Trilogy. I fell in love from the 1st sentence and haven't been able to stop talking about it since. And now finally the event has arrived and Mockingjay was in my hands. The final installment of this amazing series.

If you read and enjoyed the first two books of this series you probably have some idea of what is coming. The love triangle is still in full force, President Snow still smells of blood and roses, and Katn What can I say that hasn't already been said? I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Hunger Games Trilogy. I fell in love from the 1st sentence and haven't been able to stop talking about it since. And now finally the event has arrived and Mockingjay was in my hands. The final installment of this amazing series.

If you read and enjoyed the first two books of this series you probably have some idea of what is coming. The love triangle is still in full force, President Snow still smells of blood and roses, and Katniss still doesn't quite know what she wants. This is where we begin. And I thought the first part of the book was a bit predictable. The end was interesting, but overall I have to say the one word I think I would use to describe this book overall was INTENSE!

And although still a 5 star book and a 5 star series I will say I enjoyed this book least out of all in the Hunger Games series, but I don't necessarily think that is a bad thing. What I admire most about this book and it's author is that Collins actually had the guts to take it where she did. I didn't feel cheated in anyway. Surprised at the turn of events? Yes! But not cheated. In the midst of war certain things happen. Crimes will be committed, but war is deemed necessary when the greater crime is to not act at all.

This is the reality Katniss and her friends, enemies, lovers, and all citizens of Panem are faced with. Collins has to courage to take us on a journey filled with pain and suffering, victory and failure, heartache and betrayal. AND I LOVE HER FOR IT! The reactions of characters are believable as are Katniss' thoughts and feelings. I also love how she has the ability to keep certain characters involved in the story without them actually being physically present with Katniss. It's a rare thing, especially as the story is written in present tense.

That being said, I pretty much wanted to curl up in a ball and cry my eyes out once I had finished. The story felt very complete and realistic. Not everyone gets their happy ending. But such is life, and such is war.

I have so many feelings when it comes to this book. None of them bad. I feel lost now that it's over and all I can say is read it!

Yes, their are a few things that bothered me, that I would have done differentely; but this isn't my fantasy world, this is the world that Suzanne Collins' created.
