This book was more involved and interesting than the first one but it was also more violent and political. I would recommend this one for ages 10 and up.

You see a lot of development for Gen and the Queen of Attolia, as well as for the Gen's father and the Queen of Eddis. The political situation is intriguing and adds a lot to figuring out the motives of the various characters.

02.27.18 - I love how every time I read this book, I discover something new. Turner has done an amazing job or world-building and has clearly thought ahead when writing each book. Smalls lines from this book become bigger things is subsequent books, which is amazing. Even though I've read this book many time, I still cried at the end and immediately wanted to start it again.
