Sooo I've barely reviewed any books since, like, July or so. So I read this quite a while ago, sorry for the delay. :P Here are my thoughts …

I liked it, although I have a lot of mixed feelings about it. I love love loved the poetry parts––the parts where Lennie talked about Bailey, their conversations about their mother, etc. I sort of wish that had been the entirety of the book and that it hadn't been so focused on the Toby/Joe thing.

It would have been more powerful and original in my opinion

I thought that I might as well just do my first book review on Goodreads :)
I hope it helps for whoever who want to read it. My recommendation is Just read it!

This book is fabulous! Although I must admit I get really pissed at Lennie for doing some things but that just shows how great this book was written to ignite fear, anger, happiness and grief inside me. I remember feeling my hands getting clammy during some parts. Haha.
However the ending just made up for every bad feelings I felt.

Really loved this book, I think that one word for it is genuine.

After re-thinking it, I change my mind to five stars. This is possibly only due to this one poem, which I can't get over and have written below.

There once were two sisters, who shared the same room,
the same clothes,
the same thoughts at the same moment.
These two sisters did not have a mother
but they had each other.
The older one took the younger one to the river
where they floated on their backs
like dead men.
The older girl would say:

Loved the beautiful poems at the start of every chapter. An emotional and beautiful read.

This was a really good story. When trying to explain the premise of the book, it sounds like a typical young adult novel. But this was very well written. The author must have gone through some kind of grief in her life because she writes about it so well.

Ok I finished this one a week ago, so I have to pull out my memories of it. I know at first (the first 100 pages or so), I thought the book was just ok, but the last 100 pages I really go into it. It was a very sweet book about a girl dealing with first love and the loss of her sister. It had the feel of North of Beautiful, which I loved.
