While summering in Farnham with family, young Sherlock learns that townspeople are mysteriously being struck down by an illness. He investigates, only to find himself in the middle of what could be a deadly mystery.

Sherlock didn't seem to be terribly accurate to Doyle's version. Book was well paced, interesting plot. Sherlock didn't seem to solve the mystery by reasoning so much as by luck. Narrator Dan Weymon did a great job giving characters voices and accents. ...more

I give this book 3 1/2 stars. It read quickly and I would have given it 4 stars but I felt there were a few things that were left unanswered. I also found the final confrontations a bit unbelievable. Interesting and somewhat exciting, yes, but not very believable. A fun read for someone who likes an interesting mystery. I recommend for ages 12 and up who can handle a few murders.

My overall impressions were that it is definitely readable but a little too middle grade for me since I am old! It was hard for me to picture/go along with this 14 year old Sherlock because I have such a picture in my mind of the elder Sherlock that it was difficult to accept this one. This is likely not the authors fault - it is just a personal reader thing.
