What is good: suspense and dread and fascinating conversations with a 10-year old (alleged) psychopath who doesn't really understand how human emotions work and wants to learn how to pass for a normal person.
What is not: perfect in every way teen romance that is incredibly boring; equally boring descriptions of boxing; even more boring pages and pages of boring texting. I respect that Larbalestier is such a socially conscientious and earnest writer (just check out her blog), but very often her ...more

Read most but not all. Really reminded me of The Bad Seed, so it was a relief to find out it was meant to be a modern version or take on same. But because Che is such a nice boy and he loves Rosa I never felt quite as scared. The twist was intriguing as were the hints that Che has his own darkness but I still never found myself passionately invested in this one.

I wondered about his perception of the events and conversations. There were a lot of other things going on besides the main story as well; things that reflected on society and the city and aspects of the context within which

Very well written & very twisted. Great psychological thriller.

So very creepy. Lost a star due to some loose ends.
