A quick read that I'd recommend to people who enjoy stories with unlikeable characters. Page-turner, but I was never invested in the characters - just super curious to uncover the layers one at a time, back to how it started. ...more

Story opens with a young girl enjoying life at a tropical resort. Suddenly, she's bribing the bartender for a ride to town and on the run. How did she get to this point? Why is she running? It's pretty complex and well paced. Jule and Immie are interesting characters. It didn't seem as brilliant as We Were Liars, but perhaps I was holding it to an unrealistic expectation. ...more

So much fun. E Lockhart is a becoming a literary heroine for me. I look forward to everything she writes!
This was a mystery told backwards...a story reminiscent of Tom Ripley...

That's about all I can say without giving too much away.

I really like E. Lockhart's light-hearted books, and am not at all a fan of her dark, horrific titles. Nonetheless, this was a quick, compelling read, and I know that lots of people will like it. ...more
