I really love the world Holly Black has created with the Curse Worker series. I read through this one early on but felt something was missing - Holly Black's writing was fine - but it was the narration by Jesse Eisenberg that I was missing. I had listened to the first one and think that Eisenberg's voice got stuck in my head as Cassel and I couldn't pull it off in my own head. I didn't like Red Glove as much as I did White Cat (1st in the series). The mystery element here was somewhat overshadowed by the emotional issues that Cassel (our main character) was facing. Federal agents come calling and ask Cassell to help them investigate a murder that seems to have been committed by a Curse Worker wearing red gloves. There's also issues with Lily, whom Cassell wants to be his girlfriend but who has been Cursed to love him, and to him that's ...more

Cassel is stuck between a rock, a hard place and…a few other hard places. And Red Glove continues the excellent series by Holly Black, once again leaving us with a crazy, crazy cliffhanger.

I continue to adore Cassel’s relationship with Sam and his on-going exploration of the world he grew up in and now is a part of. The interactions with Lila were, understandably, tragic. And, as always, the world-building was detailed and well-done.

Black continues the Curse Workers series with quick turns at ev
