What Members Thought

An interesting young adult sci-fi fairy tale based loosely on the story of Cinderella. Meyer's foreshadowing could use more subtlety but, it was over all an enjoyable read. I thought the cyborg prejudice and legal discrimination a little difficult to believe. Why would having significant prosthetic relegate people to the status of property? (view spoiler)

Imagine the Cinderella story re-told as a dystopia, with Cinderella as a part-android mechanic, and you have the surprisingly wonderful premise of this young adult novel. Cinder meets Prince Kai in the market where she has a shop. She is trying to make a good impression, but has to hide the fact that she is missing an essential body part--her foot. Cinder does not know where she comes from, except for the fact that her guardian's wife and two step-sisters are her only "family." But Cinder's iden

Cinder is the type of book that makes me want to cry tears of joy. Sometimes a great book idea gets put into the wrong hands and the whole thing just crashes and burns, but that wasn’t the case with Cinder at all! There is a plague that afflicts thousands, and Cinder's nice stepsister Peony contracts it, and Cinder is carted off by authorities for e

A wonderful futuristic retelling of Cinderella. The dynamics with humans, cyborgs, androids and lunars (people living on the moon) was intriguing and I hope Meyer continues to explore these relationships. I wish the plot twist had been a bit less obvious, when the character figures it out, I was thinking "duh!!!" I will be purchasing for my high school library.
