Decent issue-driven story for teens, but I can't imagine a teen finishing this book unless it was for an assignment. The issues of immigration, refugees, cyberbullying, discrimination--all good topics for discussion and they are handled well in the context of a realistic teen guy coming to understand others besides himself. Good, but the lesson is too obvious.

I thought this book was well done, had a lot of good contemporary issues in it, and interesting character development. And I learned a lot about Somali and Muslim culture that I hadn't know before. However, I was a bit put off by the cookie cutter-ness of the main character Tom. He's the popular, good-looking jock who learns to deal with the issues in the town and transforms into a better person because of it, and quits all the bad teenager-y stuff he had ever done before.
