I always wonder that (between readings of books in this series) I forget any details of the individual stories, but have come to realize that this is mostly because each story is so much the same. Not that this is really a bad thing. Part of the charm of this series comes from the slow pace of small events that happen in the lives of the characters--like the solidity and unvaryingness of the Botswana landscape itself. We always know that most events will occur in tandem with Mmas Ramotswe and Ma

I listened to the audio version of this story, which I highly recommend! I have read several of the others in this series, and now I finally know how some of the characters' names are really supposed to be pronounced. Mma Romatswe is working on solving several mysteries, but the most entertaining storyline is the drama she goes through when her tiny white van must finally be replaced. She later decides that she can't live without it, and is determined to get it back.

As always, this was an enjoyable read with some really unexpected elements. But I feel like we're losing some momentum in the lives of the characters. Of course, I'll still keep reading the series, but compared to McCall Smith's other novels, this series is no longer my favorite.

Even though I love mysteries the part I like the most are the characters. I don't really consider the 1st Ladies' books mysteries but I love the characters and the African storytelling way of writing.

As usual, Smith's newest installment pleased me very much! I find that even though the books are slim, I take my time reading -- there is so much there! Looking forward to the next book in the series.

This series of books is just all around enjoyable. They always make me laugh and cry. McCall Smith is a wonderful author and I've enjoyed all his books immensely. He's one of the few authors I'd love to meet in person.

I always give books in this series fives because I just really love the series, the characters, the writing, and Africa. They are not necessarily always deeply profound or the stories complex and intriguing, but I love that about them. I love the simple lives (and sometimes not simple lives!), the author's understanding of Africa and people, and the knowledge that when I pick up one of these books, I will enjoy it and be entertained and gain some new insight, even if it is a simple one.

This was so interesting about Botswana and the points of view shared by the characters were so thought provoking. You learn so much about the culture and how we are all the same despite our differences! It was a fun read and I am anxious to see the TV version of the book (s).
