This mostly-excellent book had a few annoying flaws, mostly in cases where the author thought that telling a joke was more important than telling the truth about a famous person. I recognized just enough of these that I had to wonder about the descriptions of the people I didn't know much about. For instance, it's implied that Dickens only wrote long, wordy books and stories, which is simply not true.

This is fun in that gross sort of way. History can be so interesting so why do so many history folks present it in such a bland manner?! Braggs certainly isn't boring and each chapter is filled with more than just how a famous individual died. Rather each chapter is more a reflection of how these individuals lived, their relationships, and quirky habits. It also makes me truly appreciation soap, antibiotics, and modern health care. An interesting and quick read.
