Insightful and fascinating. The author does an amazing job of sharing her experiences in a way that helps others understand more of what it can be like to be deaf and how the hearing can be more helpful.
Much in the vein of Smile, this is fictionalized reality, presenting real challenges in an entertaining and sympathetic style.
By including real information about hearing loss, Bell has done a great deal to help readers to understand. Several misconceptions about hearing loss are explained in a helpful way.
Beyond that, though, it's a fun and entertaining story about a young girl's efforts to deal with what most people would consider a devastating life change.
