What Members Thought
What makes this book so outstanding is that it works as a piece of "fun" history. The setting, based on real events in southern Florida in the 1930s, gives a totally different historical viewpoint than any other book of a similar nature that I've encountered. It's a bit of real history as seen through the eyes of a kid living through it.
There are some very minor flaws, but most of those could be fixed if she writes a second book in this same setting, and there's plenty of room for that.
