What Members Thought
I found this book to be both touching and enjoyable, but I'm still puzzled about it winning the Newbery award. Half of the story was a powerful tale about the way an extended family lives and takes care of each member. The other half was a sometimes good, sometimes kind of weak tale about the main character's life in middle school.
