I was very disappointed in this book, after hearing some very favorable reviews.
Mary Poppins was subversive in a good way, in that she violated rules and "standards" for things that benefited the children. Nanny Piggins is subversive by being greedy, selfish and dishonest, and teaches children that it's okay to lie, cheat and steal as long as you have a good time while you're doing it.
