At the start of the space program Randy Lovelace, the chairman of NASA's Life Sciences Committee, thought it would be a good idea to put women in space. Afterall, women are generally smaller and lighter than men, and thus would take up less room in a spaceship, and need less oxygen, a cost saving measure.
